Why we came together.
The Galliagh Concerned Residents Group was formed in 2009 by residents from different areas of Galliagh in response to developments planned for the Galliagh area of Derry City.
Residents at first thought that the organisation behind these developments was the Galliagh Development Trust. In the past year and as a result of countless freedom of information requests residents have discovered that Derry City Council are the main agency behind these proposals.
For some unknown reason Derry City Council deny that this is a Derry City Council project.
Residents want to ensure that all areas in Galliagh have the chance for facilities. We feel that the council and the unelected groups who claim to act in the name of the community would need to start listening to the community. We are a non political pressure group of residents who want whats best for the area where we live. We want to make sure that all the groups involved can be held to account by the community they claim to represent.
