Galliagh Concerned Residents Group

The News

July 2010 Newsletter

Sunday 25th July

Today saw the start of distribution of a newsletter to homes across the Galliagh community. As every leaflet is paid for from our own pockets we would ask if you got one and are visiting the site because of reading it to pass the word along. The newsletter will be online in the next day or so.

Areas that will potentially be affected by developments planned for the area include.

Elaghmore Park, Ederowen Park, Moss park, Bracken Park, Galliagh Park, Knockalla Park, Bloomfield Park, Altcar Park, Glengalliagh Park, Rossnagalliagh, Brookdale Park, Dundrean Park and areas of Carnhill.

We would ask residents to start asking questions of Derry City Council, The Galliagh Development Trust &The Outer North Neighbourhood Partnership. Lets hope you get the answers that they refuse to give to other residents. A resident of Carnhill emailed  the Galliagh Development Trust in Feb 2010 with some questions, he has never received a single answer. The GDT wanted to 'meet' with him to discuss his questions, 5 months after he submitted them, he's confused why they would not just answer his questions. So much for accountability and transparency!

THIS BELOW IS A SCAN OF THE PLANNED AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT  - THIS IS FROM THE PLAN  CREATED BY DERRY CITY COUNCIL, GALLIAGH DEVELOPMENT TRUST, THE OUTER NORTH NEIGHBOURHOOD PARTNERSHIP AND NIHE.  CAN YOU SEE WHERE YOU LIVE? WILL YOU BE AFFECTED BY THE DEVELOPMENTS?

The campaign is growing! residents from Moss Park, Knockalla and Galliagh park have been in touch and asked us to explain our position, they were amazed at what was actually going on, and when they saw the documents residents have in their posession they could not believe it. So  when they asked how could they help? We said, spread the word, and we think they are doing well!
